No way to treat folk - Part 2 of ??? : American Airlines

Occasionally you get a set of circumstances that the simple term "shambles" fails to do justice to. Well, we had that today. We had booked flights on AA from Manchester to Boston (direct) and then a connecting flight, also through AA, to Miami. This morning I got an e-mail from a fellow UKPatriot (about which we will have more when the NFL season starts in September) telling me that the flights had been cancelled and rebooked, via Chicago (note AA did NOT tell us and when challenged confirmed that they would only have said something "nearer the time as we weren't going for a while yet") Pathetic really

The problem being that the rearranged schedule would have us missing our connection to Miami - another reason that they really should've mentioned it as soon as they'd made the decision to cancel ALL direct flights after October (for reasons hereto known only to themselves). All appeared to not be lost as I noticed a connection in Chicago to Miami - surely it would be a simple matter of combining the 2 portions of the flight into 1? Not a bit of it - they were unwilling to do so as it didn't fall under their terms of obligation - and they wouldn't budge on this. Customer service? Not known at this address

We HAVE managed to sort something out and the holiday appears to be going ahead as planned - albeit with a lot more hassle and hanging around than originally envisaged. A letter of complaint has been submitted to AA, and this story will be continued once their excuses have been received. Oh and in future, we will NOT be using AA for our holidays - they have proudly joined my lengthy black-list of companies who have pissed me off for one reason or another. It's a consumer's market and I intend to make full use of it
