So the deadline has passed, despite complaints from various parties, including the increasingly impressive Leeds United Supporters' Trust (LUST), about how the entire admin process has been loaded in favour of Ken Bates's bid. We now must wait and see who the "winner" turns out to be. Conflicting sources claim either two or four bids have been made. But, I am informed, that will be far from the end of it. Contrary to previous claims, KPMG have apparantly NOT bought the club for £1, not yet anyway, as the CVA has yet to be voided. It would only be possible for them to apply to void it IF a better deal appears and is accepted tomorrow. Otherwise we remain in limbo until September (the HMRC challenge). Of course, Kenny being Kenny has said he will sue if he loses when the bids are opened and the CVA is to be nullified. So where does this leave us? In deep, deep trouble. If Bates wins, we wait until September for his bid to be sorted one way or another (remember the PROCEDURE of the CVA is being challenged rather than the RESULT), if Bates loses, another bidder will buy the club, subject to the CVA being nullified (and Bates fighting that tooth and nail) and possibly open to further challenges from disaffected creditors
Has there ever been a more crisis-ridden club than Leeds United? I doubt it. The saga is far from over
