Well the fat's still in the fryer. Ken's CVA was challenged by the revenue at the last possible second, plunging the club into fresh chaos, keeping us in limbo and screwing up next season a month before it starts. Not what we needed
Don't get me wrong, HMRC need to be paid, but I don't see them getting a better deal than the 8p in the £ that was on the table (people elsewhere have said that clubs going into admin have not yielded more than that in the past, I don't know TBH). Their point had been made, that the preferential status of footballing creditors needed to be looked at. They could have gone to the Football League, the FA and the PFA and worked with them for a change in the structure of the CVAs, creditors etc., instead they've gone for the kill. If this leads to the ultimate demise of the football club (unlikely but has been threatened) then there will be a lot of extremely angry fans out there - and a lot of extremely upset voters who may take revenge on the MPs who urged the revenue into this action. So let's name them shall we? Along with their "new" constituencies
Phil Willis (LibDem, Harrogate & Knaresborough)
Colin Burgon (Lab, Elmett & Rothwell)
George Mudie (Lab, Leeds E)
Paul Truswell (Lab, Pudsey)
Bob Russell (LibDem, Colchester)
Graham Stringer (Lab, Blackley & Broughton)
Alan Simpson (Lab, Nottingham S)
Ann Cryer (Lab, Keighley)
John Leech (LibDem, Manchester Withington)
Jeff Ennis (Lab, Barnsley E)
Tom Brake (LibDem, Carshalton & Wallington)
Peter Kilfoyle (Lab, Liverpool Walton)
I'm pretty sure others have signed it (including Ed Balls (Lab, Morley & Outwood)) - this list may be updated...
